Kinky-Curly Knot Today Leave-in Conditioner

I was so eager to try this product after reading all of the good reviews and looking at all of the "before/after" hair pictures.  It just seemed too expensive to order online, but when my local beauty supply store started carrying it; I HAD to try it.  This review is my experience with this product.
WHAT IT IS:
Kinky-Curly Knot Today is a natural leave-in condition and detangler. 

INGREDIENTS (taken from curlmart.com):

Organic Mango fruit extract, organic slipper elm, organic marshmallow root, organic lemongrass, cetyl alcohol, behentrimonium methosulfate, citric acid, phenoxyethanol and natural fragrance.

Paraben Free
Protein Free
Silicone Free
Sulfate Free

SMELL:
This product does have a very noticeable smell.  I have heard it compared to cookies or coconut.  It is a soft smell, but in my opinion it only gets worse as the days/weeks go on.  While I do agree that it smells good in the bottle, it does not smell so good after it has been on your hair for a few hours.  It can get down right funky after a while.  I did not get tired of the smell until I have been using this product for about 2 weeks.  It finally clicked that what was making me turn up my nose by the end of the day was this product in my hair. 

MY IMPRESSION:
This is a product for wavy, curly or kinky hair and since I fall into all three of those categories, I thought it would be great for me.  Ummm...not so much.  First of all, the consistency was like snot and tapioca pudding.  That is the closest thing that I can think of to describe it.  Okay, I can deal with snot.  That just means it has great slip and will help to detangle my hair.  Right??  I can deal with snot.  I applied in the shower to soaking wet hair and used a large-tooth comb to detangle my hair.  For detangling, this is really good.  I did not like the way that it made my hair feel.  It felt sort of rough with snot mixed in.   

I squeezed out as much water as I could from my hair, flipped my head over and gave it a shake and out the door I went.  As the day progressed, my hair got dry and turned into a frizz ball with a lot of shrinkage.  First attempt, a failure.

I thought that I had used too much product, so I tried it again the next day with less product.  I got the same results.  I tried this product for 2 weeks, each time using less and less product.  By the end of the second week, I might as well have not been using any product on my hair at all.

I decided to give this product a rest for a week or so and then start using it again.  Still, I was unimpressed. 

FINAL IMPRESSION:
This product is good for detangling, but not as a leave-in.  I bought another bottle to use as a detangler, but it sits unloved in my shower stall.  I have found cheaper products that I think work better as detanglers and as leave-ins. 

WOULD I PURCHASE AGAIN:
Humm...I am not sure.  I have mixed emotions about this.  I probably should not buy it again, but I want it to work so badly, that I might get sucked into buying another bottle down the road.  Crazy huh?  It is just the Product Junkie in me!
